Stephen Nolan Show, BBC Radio 5 Live – Broadcast Journalist Credit (2025)
On Valentine's Day 2025, I did a Broadcast Journalist shadow shift at BBC Radio 5 Live. I worked on Stephen Nolan's show, and I pitched a story about the decline of dating apps in the news meeting. The team liked the idea and encouraged me to produce the story. I sourced two contributors to discuss the state online dating: a female professor who specialised in studying the effects of digitalisation on romance, and a young man who swapped dating apps for swing dance lesson to meet a romantic partner. I wrote the script for the segment and briefed the contributors, and... it made it to air! Here's a snippet of the story broadcasting on BBC Radio 5 Live.
606, BBC Radio 5 Live – Researcher (2023-2025)
I worked as a researcher on 606 for two football seasons (2023 to 2025). This role involved creating research packs for presenters, chatting with callers, and providing producers with the best on-air contributors. I also got a chance to Assistant Produce the show, selecting and curating calls and sharing info with presenters during the show. I loved the fast-paced live radio environment, and I hope for more opportunities to work on live productions in the future!
Gaydio - Guest Interview (2023)
In 2023, I spoke to Andy on Gaydio FM to promote My Fruits – a play that I wrote and performed in at HOME Mcr. It was so much fun! Andy was kind enough to play a clip of the show to listeners, and I spoke about how my family’s experiences of racism inspired the show.
Reform Radio – Guest Mix (2022)
I created an hour-long guest mix for Reform Radio and a friend of mine who had a bi-monthly show on the station. The mix was a celebration of Black British culture and coming of age in the 2010s. The music featured spans from 1948 – the year of the Empire Windrush's arrival on British shores – to 2022 when this mix was created. I had lots of fun blending family archive with classic Black British tunes.
Snack Sounds Podcast, Fuse FM – Guest Interview (2022)
As a student, I went on my friend Glo's podcast to discuss food, music and childhood memories. I spoke about Jamaican classic, Saturday Soup, and misremembered several key ingredients: my mum was not happy! In this episode, I also explored how food came to represent the differences and similarities between my Jamaican and English sides of the family.
Homeland Audio Feature - Student Group Project (2021)
Headphones on! I created this audio feature with two other students as a group project at uni. It features interviews with three Black British university students who are living away from home, and it explores what home means to them.
